Privacy Policy

Effective August 6, 2026

This policy explains what information Clearfield Leadership collects when you visit clearfieldleadership.com or thetensionmap.com, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We keep this short and specific on purpose.

Who we are

Clearfield Leadership is the executive coaching practice of Chris Clearfield. You can reach us at chris@clearfieldgroup.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you fill in a form on this site — to get free book chapters, the workbook, the Tension Map, or to join elevate — we collect the email address you enter, and your first and last name if the form asks for them. We use it to send you the thing you asked for and, unless you unsubscribe, occasional emails about our work.

If you book a call

Booking runs on Calendly, under their privacy policy. Their form asks for your name, email address, and phone number, and we receive all three so we can meet with you. Booking a call does not add you to our email list — we only add you if you sign up for something on this site.

Information collected automatically

We use analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate: which pages get visited, how far down a page people read, how far into a video they watch, which links and buttons get clicked, and roughly where visitors are located and what device and browser they use. This is measurement, not surveillance — we are trying to learn which pages are useful, not to build a profile of you.

Like every web server, our analytics providers receive the IP address your browser connects from. It is used to estimate your approximate location — city or region, not a street address — and we do not use it to identify you.

We do not record your screen or your session. Session replay is switched off. We do not add your email address or name to analytics events.

Our emails

If you are on our list, our email platform (Flodesk) records whether you opened an email and which links you clicked. Unlike the site analytics described above, this is connected to your email address. We use it to work out which emails are worth sending. You can stop it by unsubscribing, or by turning off remote images in your email app.

Cookies and local storage

Our product analytics (PostHog) stores a random identifier in your browser’s local storage — not a cookie — so that repeat visits from the same browser aren’t counted as new people. Google Analytics sets its own cookies. You can clear both at any time through your browser settings, and doing so will not break anything on this site.

We serve our product analytics from our own domain rather than PostHog’s, so that ad-blocking extensions don’t break our page-view counts. We mention it because it means some blocking extensions will not catch it — the browser controls described below will.

We honour the “Do Not Track” setting in your browser for our product analytics: with it switched on, PostHog collects nothing from you at all. Google Analytics does not support Do Not Track — to stop it, use your browser’s built-in tracking protection or clear the site’s data.

We do not sell or share personal information, so a Global Privacy Control signal has nothing to opt out of here. If that ever changes — see the advertising note below — we will honour it and say so on this page.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who make the site work:

• Flodesk — stores our email list and sends the emails you sign up for.
• PostHog (US region) — product analytics.
• Google Analytics — website traffic measurement.
• Vercel — hosts the site and serves its pages.
• Calendly — scheduling, if you book a call.
• Cloudflare — DNS and redirection for thetensionmap.com.

We may also disclose information if legally required to do so.

Tracking across other websites

We do not allow anyone to use this site to build a picture of your browsing on othersites. We run no advertising pixels, no ad networks, and no third-party trackers beyond the two analytics tools named above, and neither of them is configured to follow you off this site. Google Analytics’ advertising and cross-site features are switched off.

We expect to advertise at some point. If we add advertising or conversion tracking, we will update this policy and this section before those tags go live.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it. That stops the emails right away.
• Ask us to delete your information. Email chris@clearfieldgroup.comand we’ll delete you from our email list and from our own records. To be straight with you about the limit of that: our site analytics hold no name or email address, so there is no way for us to find “your” rows in them and nothing there that identifies you. Clearing your browser’s local storage and cookies resets the anonymous identifier on your end.
• Ask what we hold about you at the same address. For nearly everyone that is: an email address, possibly a name, which list you joined, and our record of which emails you opened.
• Block analyticsusing your browser’s built-in tracking protection, Do Not Track, or by clearing the site’s data.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information. We extend the choices above to everyone regardless of location.

How we protect it

We keep as little as possible, and what we keep sits with established providers who run their own security programmes. Your email address is submitted to us over an encrypted connection and passed to Flodesk from our server — it is never handed to our analytics tools. No system is perfectly secure and we are not going to promise you one.

How long we keep it

Email addresses stay on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.

Detailed analytics — the individual events behind our reports — are kept for up to 14 months and then deleted. Aggregate counts, such as how many people visited a page in a given month, contain no individual-level detail and are kept for longer.

Children

This site is meant for business owners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the effective date at the top. Material changes will be announced by email to our list.
